In three sentences

The Smart Readiness Indicator measures how well a building can use intelligent technologies — for efficient operation, for the needs of its occupants and for interaction with the electricity grid. It was introduced with the EU Buildings Directive in 2018 and is currently being tested in 16 member states. The SRI is still voluntary, but for large non-residential buildings it is expected to become mandatory at EU level. This will be decided by mid-2027.
